madge and a-rod take flight

Yes, yes, we know all about A-Rod and Madonna, but Madonna and the Seinfelds? Madge has apparently been friends with Jerry and Jessica for years, so naturally they would secretly helicopter her and her new man friend to their Hamptons home for a day trip, because, hey, that’s what friends do.

Zac Posen wants you to get out the vote, and he’d prefer if you looked good doing it.

Design Care Benefit for HollyRod Foundation

Many of you have campaigned long and hard for this moment, and you finally have your wish.  The gorgeous Georgina Chapman modifying her runway designs.

Your complaints were that as a designer she should be setting herself apart from clients like Thandie Newton, Jennifer Morrison and Miley Cyrus, despite the fact that she usually beat them in Who Wore It Better? polls.

I adore this scarlet satin Marchesa Fall 2009 strapless dress with satin bow on the hip.  The dress sparkles – as she does – with embroidered detail on the bow and the bodice.

The colour is so rich and luxurious which compliments her sun-kissed skin.

Matching peep-toes complete this exquisite look.  I can’t gush about how much I love this look enough.

We normally have to wait until Thursday to get BDOTW contenders, but we have 3 already.

Ciara walked the red carpet looking chic with her razor sharp ‘do wearing a Rock & Republic Spring 2009 leather mini-dress with an oversized bow neckline.

She wore her sexy dress with a pair of Rock & Republic’s “Athena” sandals and pink lips.

Lisa Rinna went back into the archives to find this stunning strapless Roberto Cavalli Fall 2005 gold lame dress.

You may remember Kate Hudson wore this dress back in 2005 to “The Skeleton Key” London Premiere.

Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, Dawn Robinson and Maxine Jones aka En Vogue were a quartet of beautiful ladies all wearing Marchesa and Notte by Marchesa.

I love the baby blue on Cindy, she always stands out.

Maxine was the only one to wear a modified dress.  She opted for a shorter sassy dress over a flowing gown like her band mates.

Holly Robinson Peete opted for a strapless coral Marchesa Resort 2009 silk chiffon pleated dress with embroidered bodice and waist.

The colour is divine against her glowing skin.

I would have loved to have seen Gabrielle Union wearing one of the sassy and more colourful cocktail dresses from Marchesa’s stunning collections, but she opted for a navy strapless gown with a embellished detail on the bodice.

Garcelle Beauvais opted for a simple black gown brought to life with gold embroidery detail through-out the dress.  She compliments her dress with a gold statement necklace which she often wears to add a bit of pizazz to her look.

Laila Ali is a knock out wearing a white Black Halo one shoulder dress with black strappy sandals.

Kelly Rowland In Cushnie et Ochs – “Here I Am” Album Launch Party

Kelly Rowland was supported by her girls Beyonce Knowles (in Lanvin) and Michelle Williams for the launch party of her new album, “Here I Am.”

The soiree was held in the Moet Rose Lounge at the top of The Standard Hotel in New York City last night.

Kelly made sure she wasn’t in anyone’s shadow by wearing an uber sexy Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2011 dress with a central split.

I wish she’s pulled her hair off her shoulders so we could get a good look at the sleek black halter with cut-out details in the bodice.

Her dress was teamed with a pair of very heavy Alejandro Ingelmo woven slingbacks, which have been worn by her former Destiny’s Child band-mate LeToya Luckett to the 2009 BET Awards.

Blue eye make-up made her eyes pop plus she added Lorraine Schwartz and OFIRA jewelry to complete her look.

Orange You Glad

“It’s the greatest Canadian export since Justin Bieber,” Mayor Bloomberg said of the Joe Fresh brand at its Fifth Avenue flagship launch party last night. Certainly, the chic-on-a-shoestring clothing line (think Uniqlo, with Zara’s eye on trends), with orange as its trademark color, will add some zest to NYC. Guests like Jessica Stam (pictured, right) and Tommy Ton carried felt totes in signature Joe Fresh tangelo and ate teensy macarons made of same. The juiciest slice of orange, though, belonged to the line’s designer, Joe Mimran (pictured, center): a jaunty scarf made just for himself. “It’s very limited edition,” he joked. So were (but seriously) the store-specific Joe Fresh Video Series installations directed by Ellen von Unwerth, Deborah Turbeville (below), and Sue de Beer. “I’m an art collector, and New York is the place to be for art,” said Mimran. “In coming here, we want to support the scene.”And make a scene, too. Fifth Avenue is a long way from aisle five at the supermarket, where Joe Fresh—owned by Canadian grocery chain Loblaws—was born. Then again, Loblaws is owned by the Weston family, which also owns luxury department stores Selfridges and Holt Renfrew. Talk about a high-low mix. “Of course I wear Joe Fresh,” said Loblaw executive chairman Galen Weston, Jr., who was sporting a $70 cashmere sweater under a considerably more expensive suit. “We’re proud of the brand, and to see it open on Fifth Ave is a dream.” A tangerine dream, indeed.—Sarah Nicole Prickett

Shop The Row Without Even Pressing “Pause”

The Row may be one of the hardest invites to score at New York fashion week, but Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s e-commerce-enabled Web site is open to all, and the young duo is at the forefront of innovations in online retailing. The designing sisters have given Style.com an exclusive preview of their first-ever shoppable video, which goes live on www.therow.com later this week. Shot by photographer/director KT Auleta backstage at their Fall show in February and produced in collaboration with the digital agency Moving Image & #38;Content, the clip is enabled with click-to-buy technology that, as its name implies, allows users to shop the video. Want Sasha Pivovarova’s ivory corset and low-slung trousers? Tap the mouse and they’re yours. “We’ve always believed in the power of video to communicate a brand’s message,” Ashley explained. “A few years ago we created a short film to introduce our first holiday collection and it has close to a million views on YouTube. We like the fact that this new shoppable video allows the viewer to engage in the content as well as the product.” Mary-Kate elaborated: “Women today are so busy; we want to make the shopping experience seamless and easy for them.” Anyone who doesn’t get a ticket to the Olsens’ Spring show on September 14 can assuage themselves knowing that their next click-to-buy opportunity will arrive early next year.

The Flare Essentials?

After several seasons of skintight pants, designers expanded their offerings for Fall with trousers cut more generously at the hems. “The flared pant looks fresh, and they make legs look like they go on forever,” Derek Lam told us. “That kind of exaggerated proportion looks right, right now.” Joseph Altuzarra and Balmain’s Christophe Decarnin likewise went long, with narrow rock-chick trousers that fanned out over the feet. At Prada and Rochas (left), meanwhile, the style took the form of kick flares cropped well above the ankle. Not necessarily leg-elongating, but a strong, directional look nonetheless.Click to see the slideshow, and let us know if you’ll dare to flare.

Victoria Justice In Jay Godfrey – 2011 VH1 Do Something Awards

Most Adorable/Red Hot Award
Victoria Justice looked absolutely adorable on the red carpet at the 2011 VH1 Do Something Awards which took place at the Hollywood Palladium in California yesterday.

She opted to wear a Jay Godfrey dress.

Her red flirty mini dress with a scooped neckline and ruffled tiered skirt was paired with a gorgeous pair of animal print peep-toe heels.

The ‘Victorious’ star was radiant as she wore her hair in a half-up-half down style and opted for shimmering silver eye makeup and pink lips.

She was one of my favourites at this event.

On Our Radar: Loquita Shackle & Chain Scarf

After years spent working in branding for fashion houses such as Nina Ricci, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, and many others, Sara Rotman officially launched her accessories line Loquita this month. Her lively printed silk scarves, pocket squares, and grandpa-inspired ascots have an old-world elegance, but thanks to the in-the-now prints and colors, these are anything but dusty. I love this shackle-and-chain printed scarf, which reminds me of a vintage Hermès piece, punkified. It’ll lighten up my heavy winter coat now, and look just as good over a trench when spring finally arrives.$268, available at www.loquitanyc.com.

The Juniors’ Department

If, cruising through the Hollywood Hills yesterday, you thought you zoomed by Minnie Driver chasing after a toddler riding a glittering pony, well, you did. Driver, the kid, and the pony (Buttons) were all guests at Liberty Ross’ afternoon tea party in honor of Daniella Issa Helayel, who’s launching the tot’s version of her namesake clothing line, Baby Issa. (That’s Ross with Baby Issa-clad babies, above.) The well-dressed under-five set will soon be wearing 100 percent cotton and cotton voile dresses, swimsuits, and trenchcoats. Hollywood types like Monet Mazur, Ione Skye and rocker hubby Ben Lee, and Vanity Fair’s Krista Smith brought their fashion-forward kiddies to peruse the goods while DJ Brett Anderson worked the turntables—the party being, she discovered, more of a challenge than she’d anticipated. “Finding cool, kid-appropriate music is tough,” Anderson mused. “Like, did you know that “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” is about murder?”The scene in Ross’ sunlit backyard resembled something out of a G-rated La Dolce Vita. In addition to Buttons, there was the requisite Crumbs cupcakes spread, a manicure station (where Decades’ Cameron Silver was spotted), a temporary tattoo booth, a pillow-strewn fort, and scores of Baby Issa-wearing children prancing about. “This is nothing like my childhood parties,” said Driver as she watched a three-year-old get a tattoo of an anchor. “The most we ever got was an above-ground pool and some charred hot dogs.”
